Curriculum: Angels - Finding Hope in God Who Reigns over Heaven and Earth
by Melissa Spoelstra

The Bible speaks of angels often. They were present in the garden of Eden, and throughout the story of the Bible they appear to people with messages, encouragement, and tangible help. Angels ministered to Jesus after His temptation and before His crucifixion, and they shared the good news of His resurrection. Despite their frequent appearance in God’s Word, our impression of angels is more often shaped by the myths and misconceptions that have developed over the centuries.

In this 8-session Bible study, join Melissa Spoelstra as she traverses the terrain of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation to learn about angels—who they are, what they do, and what they have to do with you. There's no reason to fear or ignore what's happening in the supernatural, unseen realm—we can live with confidence that God is in control of it all. Angels is a call to put your hope in the God of angel armies who reigns over heaven and earth.

9:30 My New Life

Sunday, 9:30am - 10:30am

Location: D103

Leaders: Jeff Phillips

Curriculum: My New Life

All new Christians are excited to start their journey of faith. Unfortunately, for many, there is little foundation from which to build. Many new believers have no experience in reading the Bible or even knowing what it’s about. Countless others have no experience in the church or even an understanding of why the church is important. With so many unknowns, the new Christian can become easily discouraged by a lack of understanding of who a Christ-follower is.

For the believer to grow, it’s necessary to have an understanding of the gospel, God’s character, prayer, and so much more. Many resources for new Christians exist, but they can be overwhelming. They attempt to cover too much information and they use words that people new to the faith have most likely never even heard. So what’s a better way to support, encourage, and teach the new Christian what this new life in Christ looks like?

In My New Life, the new Christian will be given deep truths in short and simple-to-understand chapters of daily readings for weekly study. Whether completed individually or with a mentor, this study will help a new believer grow in knowledge of God’s Word. It will provide a foundation on which daily trust in Jesus will grow for the rest of their lives.

Session Topics:

  1. My New Life in Christ
  2. Understanding the Gospel
  3. Knowing God
  4. Following Jesus
  5. Connecting to God’s Family
  6. Joining God on Mission

Winter 2026 Studies

Limited Resources, Limitless God by Matt Tullos (6 sessions)
This study invites us to walk deeper into a trusting relationship with God as we see that our reliance on Him leads us to things that are better and more complete than anything we could accomplish on our own.

Sharing Jesus in a Post-Christian World by Brad Whitt (6 sessions)
In recent years, society has been drifting away from its Judeo-Christian foundation. This study examines five biblical principles that will prepare us to be witnesses for Christ in a culture that is disinterested in or even hostile toward the truth.

Compelled to Act by Argile Smith (special focus session)
As we study Bible passages in Job, we ll encounter the truth about putting our convictions to work and be challenged to find our place in serving God by looking out for powerless people who need our help.
