Division and Defiance
(Covering 1 Kings–2 Chronicles; The Prophets)
by Jim Gantenbein, Lexie Hood, and Leslie Hudson

After Solomon’s reign over a united people, because of his sin of idolatry, the kingdom split. To varying degrees, the kings of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah often followed that same idolatrous path, with a few exceptions. Thus, God sent prophets to call them to repentance and to warn the people of His judgment. Because they did not humble themselves and listen, their enemies overtook them and they were sent into captivity. But even as the prophets warned of judgment, they also prophesied a future day of hope—a day when the Messiah, Jesus Christ, would come to establish His kingdom and a new covenant to forgive sin and provide eternal hope for God’s people. 9:30 Adult I Bible Study

Sunday, 9:30am - 10:30am

Location: B102

Leaders: Michael LeJeune

Curriculum: Jesus: Listening for His Voice: A Study of Mark 7-13

Jesus spoke words of life and truth. How well are you listening?

True listening isn’t simply hearing the words of Jesus; it involves belief that results in active commitment. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus interacted with people from all walks of life. In every case, those individuals could choose to believe His words and reap the rewards of faith—or resist the truth and miss out on everything that truly matters.

This same choice is yours today. In this second book in a three-part study of the gospel of Mark, you can read for yourself the words of Jesus in Mark 7–13. If you then align yourself with the One who is truth, you’ll experience for yourself the freedom that comes from truly listening for and following the voice of the Savior.

Curriculum: Slaying the Giants in Your Life by David Jeremiah

There’s a breed of giants lurking in the shadows, keeping Christians from standing on the promises that accompany their salvation.

Who are these giants? They come in the form of fear, discouragement, loneliness, worry, temptation, guilt, resentment, and more as they try to rob the joy and victory from our daily life. Discover how to recognize and banish these giants with one of Dr. Jeremiah's most popular series, Slaying the Giants in Your Life.

This series reminds us that our God is far bigger than the giants that we face, and by His powerful Hand we can overcome debilitating sin and temptation and walk in victory. We will never walk alone or in weakness with God on our side. We can stand against the giants that seek to discourage us.
